Integrity Institute Submits Response to Ofcom’s Consultation on Transparency Reporting Guidance

On October 4th, 2024, the Integrity Institute submitted a response to Ofcom’s consultation on draft transparency reporting guidance, pertaining to platform transparency reporting proposals as part of the Online Safety Act.

Our submission highlights the Integrity Institute’s recommended metrics that illustrate the scale, cause and nature of harms on platforms. Additionally, we commented on how Ofcom can provide clarity for platforms to ensure that the burden for compliance is as low as possible. We provided recommendations on how Ofcom can evaluate a platforms ‘capacity’ and how querying data may be easy, but compliance is difficult.

This marks the 3rd consultation the Integrity Institute community has provided feedback on this year. We are thankful to Ofcom for allowing integrity professionals to share their expertise and insights to shape proposals that directly affect them.
